Netscape 7, huh?

Netscape has released Netscape 7 preview release 1. Hmm. It seems to be a branded release of Mozilla 1 release candidate 1 or 2. Seems kinda silly to me. Netscape jumped the gun releasing version 6.0 and I wonder whether they haven't done it again.

Still there are a bunch of great features in Mozilla. I'm just opposed to releasing version numbers for marketing reasons. This release looks a lot more like a 6.5 to me. Oh wait, maybe it should be version 5.5...

2002 5k contest

The 5k contest is up.

Unfortunately, they postponed the html/css category until Fall. I had a good idea for that category, but I haven't thought of a good entry for the dhtml category. If you have an idea that you wouldn't mind me using, let me know. Of course, any collaborators will be credited.

I'm gonna take cookiecrook down for a while... I just realized that it's been in it's current state (without major modification) for over a year now. April 17th, 2001 is when I made my first weblog post on the new site. I usually get bored and want to redesign within a couple months so this is a new record for me. However, the fact remains that I'm once again bored with my site and will be redesigning and redeveloping soon. I've learned a lot in a year, so hopefully the new one will be much better.

I am going to start from scratch and build a new backend as well as redesigning the client-side. I hope to make the new site more readable, more accessible, more indexable, faster, searchable, more interesting, and more compliant with new web standards like XHTML 1.1 (the current site is XHTML 1.0 but had fatal errors when using 1.1). I will try to keep all the content up on archive.cookiecrook.com but it's not there yet so don't try viewing that site until you see the new placeholder.
